خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍۢ وَٰحِدَةٍۢ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَأَنزَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ ثَمَٰنِيَةَ أَزْوَٰجٍۢ ۚ يَخْلُقُكُمْ فِى بُطُونِ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ خَلْقًۭا مِّنۢ بَعْدِ خَلْقٍۢ فِى ظُلُمَٰتٍۢ ثَلَٰثٍۢ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ لَهُ ٱلْمُلْكُ ۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُصْرَفُونَ ﴿٦﴾

او شما را از یک نفس آفرید، و همسرش را از (باقیمانده گِل) او خلق کرد؛ و برای شما هشت زوج از چهارپایان ایجاد کرد؛ او شما را در شکم مادرانتان آفرینشی بعد از آفرینش دیگر، در میان تاریکیهای سه گانه، می‌بخشد! این است خداوند، پروردگار شما که حکومت (عالم هستی) از آن اوست؛ هیچ معبودی جز او نیست؛ پس چگونه از راه حق منحرف می‌شوید؟!

He has created you [all] out of one living entity, and out of it fashioned its mate; and he has be­stowed upon you four kinds of cattle of either sex; [and] He creates you in your mothers’ wombs, one act of creation after another, in threefold depths of darkness. Thus is God, your Sustainer: unto Him belongs all dominion: there is no deity save Him: how, then, can you lose sight of the truth?

إِن تَكْفُرُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَنِىٌّ عَنكُمْ ۖ وَلَا يَرْضَىٰ لِعِبَادِهِ ٱلْكُفْرَ ۖ وَإِن تَشْكُرُوا۟ يَرْضَهُ لَكُمْ ۗ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌۭ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ ۗ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُم مَّرْجِعُكُمْ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ ﴿٧﴾

اگر کفران کنید، خداوند از شما بی‌نیاز است و هرگز کفران را برای بندگانش نمی پسندد؛ و اگر شکر او را بجا آورید آن را برای شما می‌پسندد! و هیچ گنهکاری گناه دیگری را بر دوش نمی‌کشد! سپس بازگشت همه شما به سوی پروردگارتان است، و شما را از آنچه انجام می‌دادید آگاه می‌سازد؛ چرا که او به آنچه در سینه‌هاست آگاه است!

If you are ingrate behold, God has no need of you; none the less, He does not approve of in­gratitude in His servants: whereas, if you show grati­tude, He approves it in you. And no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another’s burden. In time, unto your Sustainer you all must return, and then He will make you [truly] understand all that you were doing [in life]: for, verily, He has full knowledge of what is in the hearts [of men].

۞ وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ ضُرٌّۭ دَعَا رَبَّهُۥ مُنِيبًا إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلَهُۥ نِعْمَةًۭ مِّنْهُ نَسِىَ مَا كَانَ يَدْعُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ مِن قَبْلُ وَجَعَلَ لِلَّهِ أَندَادًۭا لِّيُضِلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ ۚ قُلْ تَمَتَّعْ بِكُفْرِكَ قَلِيلًا ۖ إِنَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلنَّارِ ﴿٨﴾

هنگامی که انسان را زیانی رسد، پروردگار خود را می‌خواند و بسوی او باز می گردد؛ امّا هنگامی که نعمتی از خود به او عطا کند، آنچه را به خاطر آن قبلاً خدا را می خواند از یاد می‌برد و برای خداوند همتایانی قرارمی‌دهد تا مردم را از راه او منحرف سازد؛ بگو: «چند روزی از کفرت بهره‌گیر که از دوزخیانی!»

NOW [thus it is:] when affliction befalls man, he is likely to cry out to his Sustainer, turning unto Him [for help]; but as soon as He has bestowed upon him a boon by His grace, he forgets Him whom he in­voked before, and claims that there are other powers that could rival God - and thus leads [others] astray from His path. Say [unto him who sins in this way]: “Enjoy thyself for a while in this thy denial of the truth; [yet,] verily, thou art of those who are destined for the fire!

أَمَّنْ هُوَ قَٰنِتٌ ءَانَآءَ ٱلَّيْلِ سَاجِدًۭا وَقَآئِمًۭا يَحْذَرُ ٱلْءَاخِرَةَ وَيَرْجُوا۟ رَحْمَةَ رَبِّهِۦ ۗ قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِى ٱلَّذِينَ يَعْلَمُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ۗ إِنَّمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ ﴿٩﴾

(آیا چنین کسی با ارزش است) یا کسی که در ساعات شب به عبادت مشغول است و در حال سجده و قیام، از عذاب آخرت می‌ترسد و به رحمت پروردگارش امیدوار است؟! بگو: «آیا کسانی که می‌دانند با کسانی که نمی‌دانند یکسانند؟! تنها خردمندان متذکّر می‌شوند!»

Or [dost thou deem thyself equal to] one who devoutly worships [God] throughout the night, prostrating himself or standing [in prayer], ever- mindful of the life to come, and hoping for his Sustainer’s grace?” Say: “Can they who know and they who do not know be deemed equal?” [But] only they who are endowed with insight keep this in mind!

قُلْ يَٰعِبَادِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ ۚ لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ فِى هَٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةٌۭ ۗ وَأَرْضُ ٱللَّهِ وَٰسِعَةٌ ۗ إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى ٱلصَّٰبِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍۢ ﴿١٠﴾

بگو: «ای بندگان من که ایمان آورده‌اید! از (مخالفت) پروردگارتان بپرهیزید! برای کسانی که در این دنیا نیکی کرده‌اند پاداش نیکی است! و زمین خدا وسیع است، (اگر تحت فشار سران کفر بودید مهاجرت کنید) که صابران اجر و پاداش خود را بی‌حساب دریافت می‌دارند!

Say: “[Thus speaks God:] ‘O you servants of Mine who have attained to faith! Be conscious of your Sustainer! Ultimate good awaits those who per­severe in doing good in this world. And [remember:] wide is God’s earth, [and,] verily, they who are patient in adversity will be given their reward in full, beyond all reckoning!’”

قُلْ إِنِّىٓ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصًۭا لَّهُ ٱلدِّينَ ﴿١١﴾

بگو: «من مأمورم که خدا را پرستش کنم در حالی که دینم را برای او خالص کرده باشم،

Say [O Muhammad]: “Behold, I am bidden to worship God, sincere in my faith in Him alone;

وَأُمِرْتُ لِأَنْ أَكُونَ أَوَّلَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ ﴿١٢﴾

و مأمورم که نخستین مسلمان باشم!

and I am bidden to be foremost among those who surrender themselves unto God.”

قُلْ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ إِنْ عَصَيْتُ رَبِّى عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍۢ ﴿١٣﴾

بگو: «من اگر نافرمانی پروردگارم کنم، از عذاب روز بزرگ (قیامت) می‌ترسم!»

Say: “Behold, I would dread, were I to rebel against my Sustainer, the suffering [which would befall me] on that awesome Day [of Judgment].”

قُلِ ٱللَّهَ أَعْبُدُ مُخْلِصًۭا لَّهُۥ دِينِى ﴿١٤﴾

بگو: «من تنها خدا را می‌پرستم در حالی که دینم را برای او خالص می‌کنم.

Say: “God alone do I worship, sincere in my faith in Him alone -

فَٱعْبُدُوا۟ مَا شِئْتُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ ۗ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ ۗ أَلَا ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْخُسْرَانُ ٱلْمُبِينُ ﴿١٥﴾

شما هر چه را جز او می‌خواهید بپرستید!» بگو: «زیانکاران واقعی آنانند که سرمایه وجود خویش و بستگانشان را در روز قیامت از دست داده‌اند! آگاه باشید زیان آشکار همین است!»

and [it is up to you, O sinners, to] worship whatever you please instead of Him!” Say: “Behold, the [true] losers will be they who shall have lost their own selves and their kith and kin on Resurrection Day: for is not this, this, the [most] obvious loss?

لَهُم مِّن فَوْقِهِمْ ظُلَلٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلنَّارِ وَمِن تَحْتِهِمْ ظُلَلٌۭ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ يُخَوِّفُ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦ عِبَادَهُۥ ۚ يَٰعِبَادِ فَٱتَّقُونِ ﴿١٦﴾

برای آنان از بالای سرشان سایبانهایی از آتش، و در زیر پایشان نیز سایبانهایی از آتش است؛ این چیزی است که خداوند با آن بندگانش را می‌ترساند! ای بندگان من! از نافرمانی من بپرهیزید!

Clouds of fire will they have above them, and [similar] clouds beneath them…” In this way does God imbue His servants with fear. O you servants of Mine! Be, then, conscious of Me -

وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱجْتَنَبُوا۟ ٱلطَّٰغُوتَ أَن يَعْبُدُوهَا وَأَنَابُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ لَهُمُ ٱلْبُشْرَىٰ ۚ فَبَشِّرْ عِبَادِ ﴿١٧﴾

و کسانی که از عبادت طاغوت پرهیز کردند و به سوی خداوند بازگشتند، بشارت از آن آنهاست؛ پس بندگان مرا بشارت ده!

seeing that for those who shun the powers of evil lest they [be tempted to] worship them, and turn unto God instead, there is the glad tiding [of happiness in the life to come]. Give, then, this glad tiding to [those of] My ser­vants

ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْتَمِعُونَ ٱلْقَوْلَ فَيَتَّبِعُونَ أَحْسَنَهُۥٓ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَدَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۖ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمْ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ ﴿١٨﴾

همان کسانی که سخنان را می‌شنوند و از نیکوترین آنها پیروی می‌کنند؛ آنان کسانی هستند که خدا هدایتشان کرده، و آنها خردمندانند.

who listen [closely] to all that is said, and follow the best of it: [for] it is they whom God has graced with His guidance, and it is they who are [truly] endowed with insight!

أَفَمَنْ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِ كَلِمَةُ ٱلْعَذَابِ أَفَأَنتَ تُنقِذُ مَن فِى ٱلنَّارِ ﴿١٩﴾

آیا تو می‌توانی کسی را که فرمان عذاب درباره او قطعی شده رهایی بخشی؟! آیا تو میتوانی کسی را که در درون آتش است برگیری و نجات دهی؟!

On the other hand, could one on whom [God’s] sentence of suffering has been passed [be rescued by man]? Couldst thou, perchance, save one who is [already, as it were,] in the fire?

لَٰكِنِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ رَبَّهُمْ لَهُمْ غُرَفٌۭ مِّن فَوْقِهَا غُرَفٌۭ مَّبْنِيَّةٌۭ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ ۖ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ لَا يُخْلِفُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمِيعَادَ ﴿٢٠﴾

ولی آنها که تقوای الهی پیشه کردند، غرفه‌هایی در بهشت دارند که بر فراز آنها غرفه‌های دیگری بنا شده و از زیر آنها نهرها جاری است این وعده الهی است، و خداوند در وعده خود تخلّف نمی‌کند!

As against this they who of their Sustainer are conscious shall [in the life to come] have man­sions raised upon mansions high, beneath which run­ning waters flow: [this is] God’s promise - [and] never does God fail to fulfill His promise.

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ فَسَلَكَهُۥ يَنَٰبِيعَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُ بِهِۦ زَرْعًۭا مُّخْتَلِفًا أَلْوَٰنُهُۥ ثُمَّ يَهِيجُ فَتَرَىٰهُ مُصْفَرًّۭا ثُمَّ يَجْعَلُهُۥ حُطَٰمًا ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَذِكْرَىٰ لِأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ ﴿٢١﴾

آیا ندیدی که خداوند از آسمان آبی فرستاد و آن را بصورت چشمه‌هایی در زمین وارد نمود، سپس با آن زراعتی را خارج می‌سازد که رنگهای مختلف دارد؛ بعد آن گیاه خشک می‌شود، بگونه‌ای که آن را زرد و بی‌روح می‌بینی؛ سپس آن را در هم می‌شکند و خرد می‌کند؛ در این مثال تذکّری است برای خردمندان (از ناپایداری دنیا)!

ART THOU NOT aware that it is God who sends down water from the skies, and then causes it to travel through the earth in the shape of springs? And then He brings forth thereby herbage of various hues; and then it withers, and thou canst see it turn yellow; and in the end He causes it to crumble to dust. Verily, in [all] this there is indeed a reminder to those who are endowed with insight!

أَفَمَن شَرَحَ ٱللَّهُ صَدْرَهُۥ لِلْإِسْلَٰمِ فَهُوَ عَلَىٰ نُورٍۢ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ ۚ فَوَيْلٌۭ لِّلْقَٰسِيَةِ قُلُوبُهُم مِّن ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍ ﴿٢٢﴾

آیا کسی که خدا سینه‌اش را برای اسلام گشاده است و بر فراز مرکبی از نور الهی قرار گرفته (همچون کوردلان گمراه است؟!) وای بر آنان که قلبهایی سخت در برابر ذکر خدا دارند! آنها در گمراهی آشکاری هستند!

Could, then, one whose bosom God has opened wide with willingness towards self-surrender unto Him, so that he is illumined by a light [that flows] from his Sustainer, [be likened to the blind and deaf of heart]? Woe, then, unto those whose hearts are hardened against all remembrance of God! They are most obviously lost in error!

ٱللَّهُ نَزَّلَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْحَدِيثِ كِتَٰبًۭا مُّتَشَٰبِهًۭا مَّثَانِىَ تَقْشَعِرُّ مِنْهُ جُلُودُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ ثُمَّ تَلِينُ جُلُودُهُمْ وَقُلُوبُهُمْ إِلَىٰ ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ يَهْدِى بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنْ هَادٍ ﴿٢٣﴾

خداوند بهترین سخن را نازل کرده، کتابی که آیاتش (در لطف و زیبایی و عمق و محتوا) همانند یکدیگر است؛ آیاتی مکرّر دارد (با تکراری شوق‌انگیز) که از شنیدن آیاتش لرزه بر اندام کسانی که از پروردگارشان می‌ترسند می‌افتد؛ سپس برون و درونشان نرم و متوجّه ذکر خدا می‌شود؛ این هدایت الهی است که هر کس را بخواهد با آن راهنمایی می‌کند؛ و هر کس را خداوند گمراه سازد، راهنمایی برای او نخواهد بود!

God bestows from on high the best of all teachings in the shape of a divine writ fully consistent within itself, repeating each statement [of the truth] in manifold forms [a divine writ] whereat shiver the skins of all who of their Sustainer stand in awe: [but] in the end their skins and their hearts do soften at the remembrance of [the grace of] God. Such is God’s guidance: He guides therewith him that wills [to be guided] whereas he whom God lets go astray can never find any guide

أَفَمَن يَتَّقِى بِوَجْهِهِۦ سُوٓءَ ٱلْعَذَابِ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ ۚ وَقِيلَ لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ ذُوقُوا۟ مَا كُنتُمْ تَكْسِبُونَ ﴿٢٤﴾

آیا کسی که با صورت خود عذاب دردناک (الهی) را در روز قیامت دور می‌سازد (همانند کسی است که هرگز آتش دوزخ به او نمی‌رسد)؟! و به ظالمان گفته می شود: «بچشید آنچه را به دست می‌آوردید (و انجام می‌دادید)!»

Could, then, one who shall have nothing but is [bare] face to protect him from the awful suffering [that will befall him] on Resurrection Day [be likened to the God-conscious]? [On that Day,] the evildoers will be told: “Taste [now] what you have earned [in life]!”

كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَأَتَىٰهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ﴿٢٥﴾

کسانی که قبل از آنها بودند نیز (آیات ما را) تکذیب نمودند، و عذاب (الهی) از جایی که فکر نمی‌کردند به سراغشان آمد!

Those who lived before them did [too] give the lie to the truth - whereupon suffering befell them without their having perceived whence it came:

فَأَذَاقَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْخِزْىَ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٢٦﴾

پس خداوند خواری را در زندگی این دنیا به آنها چشانید، و عذاب آخرت شدیدتر است اگر می‌دانستند.

and thus God let them taste ignominy [even] in the life of this world. Yet [how] much greater will be the [sinners’] suffering in the life to come - if they [who now deny the truth] but knew it!

وَلَقَدْ ضَرَبْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِى هَٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٍۢ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ ﴿٢٧﴾

ما برای مردم در این قرآن از هر نوع مثَلی زدیم، شاید متذکّر شوند.

THUS, INDEED, have We propounded unto men all kinds of parables in this Qur’an, so that they might bethink themselves; [and We have revealed it]

قُرْءَانًا عَرَبِيًّا غَيْرَ ذِى عِوَجٍۢ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ ﴿٢٨﴾

قرآنی است فصیح و خالی از هر گونه کجی و نادرستی، شاید آنان پرهیزگاری پیشه کنند!

as a discourse in the Arabic tongue, free of all devious­ness, so that they might become conscious of God.

ضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًۭا رَّجُلًۭا فِيهِ شُرَكَآءُ مُتَشَٰكِسُونَ وَرَجُلًۭا سَلَمًۭا لِّرَجُلٍ هَلْ يَسْتَوِيَانِ مَثَلًا ۚ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٢٩﴾

خداوند مثالی زده است: مردی را که مملوک شریکانی است که درباره او پیوسته با هم به مشاجره مشغولند، و مردی که تنها تسلیم یک نفر است؛ آیا این دو یکسانند؟! حمد، مخصوص خداست، ولی بیشتر آنان نمی‌دانند.

[To this end,] God sets forth a parable: A man who has for his masters several partners, [all of them] at variance with one another, and a man depending wholly on one person: can these two be deemed equal as regards their condition? [Nay,] all praise is due to God [alone]: but most of them do not understand this.

إِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌۭ وَإِنَّهُم مَّيِّتُونَ ﴿٣٠﴾

تو می‌میری و آنها نیز خواهند مرد!

Yet, verily, thou art bound to die, [O Muhammad,] and, verily, they, too, are bound to die:

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ عِندَ رَبِّكُمْ تَخْتَصِمُونَ ﴿٣١﴾

سپس شما روز قیامت نزد پروردگارتان مخاصمه می‌کنید.

and then, behold, on the Day of Resurrection you all shall place your dispute before your Sustainer.

۞ فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن كَذَبَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلصِّدْقِ إِذْ جَآءَهُۥٓ ۚ أَلَيْسَ فِى جَهَنَّمَ مَثْوًۭى لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ ﴿٣٢﴾

پس چه کسی ستمکارتر است از آن کسی که بر خدا دروغ ببندد و سخن راست را هنگامی که به سراغ او آمده تکذیب کند؟! آیا در جهنّم جایگاهی برای کافران نیست؟!

And who could be more wicked than he who invents lies about God? and gives the lie to the truth as soon as it has been placed before him? Is not hell the [proper] abode for all who deny the truth?

وَٱلَّذِى جَآءَ بِٱلصِّدْقِ وَصَدَّقَ بِهِۦٓ ۙ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُتَّقُونَ ﴿٣٣﴾

امّا کسی که سخن راست بیاورد و کسی که آن را تصدیق کند، آنان پرهیزگارانند!

But he who brings the truth, and he who wholeheartedly accepts it as true - it is they, they, who are [truly] conscious of Him!

لَهُم مَّا يَشَآءُونَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ جَزَآءُ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ﴿٣٤﴾

آنچه بخواهند نزد پروردگارشان برای آنان موجود است؛ و این است جزای نیکوکاران!

All that they have ever yearned for awaits them with their Sustainer: such will be the reward of the doers of good.

لِيُكَفِّرَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ أَسْوَأَ ٱلَّذِى عَمِلُوا۟ وَيَجْزِيَهُمْ أَجْرَهُم بِأَحْسَنِ ٱلَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ ﴿٣٥﴾

تا خداوند بدترین اعمالی را که انجام داده‌اند (در سایه ایمان و صداقت آنها) بیامرزد، و آنها را به بهترین اعمالی که انجام می‌دادند پاداش دهد!

And to this end, God will efface from their record the worst that they ever did, and give them their reward in accordance with the best that they were doing [in life].

أَلَيْسَ ٱللَّهُ بِكَافٍ عَبْدَهُۥ ۖ وَيُخَوِّفُونَكَ بِٱلَّذِينَ مِن دُونِهِۦ ۚ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنْ هَادٍۢ ﴿٣٦﴾

آیا خداوند برای (نجات و دفاع از) بنده‌اش کافی نیست؟! امّا آنها تو را از غیر او می‌ترسانند. و هر کس را خداوند گمراه کند، هیچ هدایت‌کننده‌ای ندارد!

IS NOT God enough for His servant? And yet, they would frighten thee with those [imaginary divine powers which they worship] beside Him! But he whom God lets go astray can never find any guide,

وَمَن يَهْدِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن مُّضِلٍّ ۗ أَلَيْسَ ٱللَّهُ بِعَزِيزٍۢ ذِى ٱنتِقَامٍۢ ﴿٣٧﴾

و هر کس را خدا هدایت کند، هیچ گمراه‌کننده‌ای نخواهد داشت آیا خداوند توانا و دارای مجازات نیست؟!

whereas he whom God guides aright can never be led astray. Is not God almighty, an avenger of evil?

وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُ ۚ قُلْ أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِنْ أَرَادَنِىَ ٱللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ هَلْ هُنَّ كَٰشِفَٰتُ ضُرِّهِۦٓ أَوْ أَرَادَنِى بِرَحْمَةٍ هَلْ هُنَّ مُمْسِكَٰتُ رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ قُلْ حَسْبِىَ ٱللَّهُ ۖ عَلَيْهِ يَتَوَكَّلُ ٱلْمُتَوَكِّلُونَ ﴿٣٨﴾

و اگر از آنها بپرسی: «چه کسی آسمانها و زمین را آفریده؟» حتماً می‌گویند: «خدا!» بگو: «آیا هیچ درباره معبودانی که غیر از خدا می‌خوانید اندیشه می‌کنید که اگر خدا زیانی برای من بخواهد، آیا آنها می‌توانند گزند او را برطرف سازند؟! و یا اگر رحمتی برای من بخواهد، آیا آنها می‌توانند جلو رحمت او را بگیرند؟!» بگو: «خدا مرا کافی است؛ و همه متوکّلان تنها بر او توکّل می‌کنند!»

And thus it is [with most people]: if thou ask them, “Who is it that has created the heavens and the earth?” - they will surely answer, “God.” Say: “Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you invoke instead of God? If God wills that harm should befall me, could those [imaginary powers] remove the harm inflicted by Him? Or, if He wills that grace should alight on me, could they withhold His grace [from me]?” Say: “God is enough for me! In Him [alone] place their trust all who have trust [in His existence].”

قُلْ يَٰقَوْمِ ٱعْمَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنِّى عَٰمِلٌۭ ۖ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٣٩﴾

بگو: «ای قوم من! شما هر چه در توان دارید انجام دهید، من نیز به وظیفه خود عمل می‌کنم؛ امّا بزودی خواهید دانست...

Say: “O my [truth-denying] people! Do yet all that may be within your power, [whereas] I, behold, shall labour [in God’s way]: in time you will come to know

مَن يَأْتِيهِ عَذَابٌۭ يُخْزِيهِ وَيَحِلُّ عَلَيْهِ عَذَابٌۭ مُّقِيمٌ ﴿٤٠﴾

چه کسی عذاب خوارکننده‌ای (در دنیا) به سراغش می‌آید، و (سپس) عذابی جاویدان (در آخرت) بر او وارد می‌گردد!»

who it is that shall be visited [in this world] by suffering which will cover him with ignominy, and upon whom long-lasting suffering shall alight [in the life to come]!”

إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ لِلنَّاسِ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖ فَمَنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ فَلِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيْهَا ۖ وَمَآ أَنتَ عَلَيْهِم بِوَكِيلٍ ﴿٤١﴾

ما این کتاب (آسمانی) را برای مردم بحق بر تو نازل کردیم؛ هر کس هدایت را پذیرد به نفع خود اوست؛ و هر کس گمراهی را برگزیند، تنها به زیان خود گمراه می‌گردد؛ و تو مأمور اجبار آنها به هدایت نیستی.

BEHOLD, from on high have We bestowed upon thee this divine writ, setting forth the truth for [the benefit of all] mankind. And whoever chooses to be guided [thereby], does so for his own good, and whoever chooses to go astray, goes but astray to his own hurt; and thou hast not the power to determine their fate.

ٱللَّهُ يَتَوَفَّى ٱلْأَنفُسَ حِينَ مَوْتِهَا وَٱلَّتِى لَمْ تَمُتْ فِى مَنَامِهَا ۖ فَيُمْسِكُ ٱلَّتِى قَضَىٰ عَلَيْهَا ٱلْمَوْتَ وَيُرْسِلُ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍۢ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾

خداوند ارواح را به هنگام مرگ قبض می‌کند، و ارواحی را که نمرده‌اند نیز به هنگام خواب می‌گیرد؛ سپس ارواح کسانی که فرمان مرگشان را صادر کرده نگه می‌دارد و ارواح دیگری را (که باید زنده بمانند) بازمی‌گرداند تا سرآمدی معیّن؛ در این امر نشانه‌های روشنی است برای کسانی که اندیشه می‌کنند!

It is God [alone that has this power - He] who causes all human beings to die at the time of their [bodily] death, and [causes to be as dead], during their sleep, those that have not yet died: thus, He withholds [from life] those upon whom He has decreed death, and lets the others go free for a term set [by Him]. In [all] this, behold, there are messages indeed for people who think!

أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ شُفَعَآءَ ۚ قُلْ أَوَلَوْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ شَيْـًۭٔا وَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ ﴿٤٣﴾

آیا آنان غیر از خدا شفیعانی گرفته‌اند؟! به آنان بگو: «آیا (از آنها شفاعت می‌طلبید) هر چند مالک چیزی نباشند و درک و شعوری برای آنها نباشد؟!»

And yet, they choose [to worship], side by side with God, [imaginary] intercessors!” Say: “Why - even though they have no power over anything, and no understanding?”

قُل لِّلَّهِ ٱلشَّفَٰعَةُ جَمِيعًۭا ۖ لَّهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ ﴿٤٤﴾

بگو: «تمام شفاعت از آن خداست، (زیرا) حاکمیّت آسمانها و زمین از آن اوست و سپس همه شما را به سوی او بازمی‌گردانند!»

Say: “God’s alone is [the power to bestow the right of] intercession: His [alone] is the dominion over the heavens and the earth; and, in the end, Unto Him you will all be brought back.”

وَإِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ ٱشْمَأَزَّتْ قُلُوبُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ ۖ وَإِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِذَا هُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ ﴿٤٥﴾

هنگامی که خداوند به یگانگی یاد می‌شود، دلهای کسانی که به آخرت ایمان ندارند مشمئزّ (و متنفّر) می‌گردد؛ امّا هنگامی که از معبودهای دیگر یاد می‌شود، آنان خوشحال می‌شوند.

And yet, whenever God alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who will not believe in the life to come contract with bitter aversion - whereas, when those [imaginary powers] are mentioned side by side with Him, lo, they rejoice!

قُلِ ٱللَّهُمَّ فَاطِرَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ عَٰلِمَ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ أَنتَ تَحْكُمُ بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ فِى مَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ ﴿٤٦﴾

بگو: «خداوندا! ای آفریننده آسمانها و زمین، و آگاه از اسرار نهان و آشکار، تو در میان بندگانت در آنچه اختلاف داشتند داوری خواهی کرد!»

Say: “O God! Originator of the heavens and the earth! Knower of all that is beyond the reach of a created being’s perception, as well as of all that can be witnessed by a creature’s senses or mind! It is Thou who wilt judge between Thy servants [on Resurrection Day] with regard to all on which they were wont to differ!”

وَلَوْ أَنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًۭا وَمِثْلَهُۥ مَعَهُۥ لَٱفْتَدَوْا۟ بِهِۦ مِن سُوٓءِ ٱلْعَذَابِ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ ۚ وَبَدَا لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يَكُونُوا۟ يَحْتَسِبُونَ ﴿٤٧﴾

اگر ستمکاران تمام آنچه را روی زمین است مالک باشند و همانند آن بر آن افزوده شود، حاضرند همه را فدا کنند تا از عذاب شدید روز قیامت رهایی یابند؛ و از سوی خدا برای آنها اموری ظاهر می‌شود که هرگز گمان نمی‌کردند!

But if those who are bent on evildoing posses­sed all that is on earth, and twice as much, they would surely offer it as ransom from the awful suffering [that will befall them] on the Day of Resur­rection: for, something with which they had not reckoned before will [by then] have been made obvious to them by God;

وَبَدَا لَهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا كَسَبُوا۟ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ ﴿٤٨﴾

در آن روز اعمال بدی را که انجام داده‌اند برای آنها آشکار می‌شود، و آنچه را استهزا می‌کردند بر آنها واقع می‌گردد.

and obvious to them will have become the evil that they had wrought [in life]: and thus shall they be overwhelmed by the very truth which they were wont to deride.

فَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ ضُرٌّۭ دَعَانَا ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلْنَٰهُ نِعْمَةًۭ مِّنَّا قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أُوتِيتُهُۥ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍۭ ۚ بَلْ هِىَ فِتْنَةٌۭ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٤٩﴾

هنگامی که انسان را زیانی رسد، ما را (برای حلّ مشکلش) می‌خواند؛ سپس هنگامی که از جانب خود به او نعمتی دهیم، می‌گوید: «این نعمت را بخاطر کاردانی خودم به من داده‌اند»؛ ولی این وسیله آزمایش (آنها) است، امّا بیشترشان نمی‌دانند.

NOW [thus it is:] when affliction befalls man, he cries out unto Us for help; but when We bestow upon him a boon by Our grace, he says [to himself], “I have been given [all] this by virtue of [my own] wisdom!” Nay, this [bestowal of grace] is a trial: but most of them understand it not!

قَدْ قَالَهَا ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَمَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ ﴿٥٠﴾

این سخن را کسانی که قبل از آنها بودند نیز گفتند، ولی آنچه را به دست می‌آوردند برای آنها سودی نداشت!

The same did say [to themselves many of] those who lived before their time; but of no avail to them was all that they had ever achieved:

فَأَصَابَهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا كَسَبُوا۟ ۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مِنْ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ سَيُصِيبُهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا كَسَبُوا۟ وَمَا هُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ ﴿٥١﴾

سپس بدیهای اعمالشان به آنها رسید؛ و ظالمان این گروه [= اهل مکّه‌] نیز بزودی گرفتار بدیهای اعمالی که انجام داده‌اند خواهند شد، و هرگز نمی‌توانند از چنگال عذاب الهی بگریزند.

for all the evil deeds that they had wrought fell [back] upon them. And [the same will happen to] people of the present time who are bent on wrongdoing: all the evil deeds that they have ever wrought will fall [back] upon them, and never will they be able to elude [God]!

أَوَلَمْ يَعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَبْسُطُ ٱلرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَقْدِرُ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍۢ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿٥٢﴾

آیا آنها ندانستند که خداوند روزی را برای هر کس بخواهد گسترده یا تنگ می‌سازد؟! در این، آیات و نشانه‌هایی است برای گروهی که ایمان می‌آورند.

Are they, then, not aware that it is God who grants abundant sustenance, or gives it in scant measure, unto whomever He wills? In this, behold, there are messages indeed for peo­ple who will believe!

۞ قُلْ يَٰعِبَادِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا۟ مِن رَّحْمَةِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ﴿٥٣﴾

بگو: «ای بندگان من که بر خود اسراف و ستم کرده‌اید! از رحمت خداوند نومید نشوید که خدا همه گناهان را می‌آمرزد، زیرا او بسیار آمرزنده و مهربان است.

SAY: “[Thus speaks God:] ‘O you servants of Mine who have transgressed against your own selves! Despair not of God’s mercy: behold, God forgives all sins - for, verily, He alone is much-forgiving, a dis­penser of grace!’”

وَأَنِيبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ وَأَسْلِمُوا۟ لَهُۥ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ ثُمَّ لَا تُنصَرُونَ ﴿٥٤﴾

و به درگاه پروردگارتان بازگردید و در برابر او تسلیم شوید، پیش از آنکه عذاب به سراغ شما آید، سپس از سوی هیچ کس یاری نشوید!

Hence, turn towards your Sustainer [alone] and surrender yourselves unto Him ere the suffering [of death and resurrection] comes upon you, for then you will not be succoured.

وَٱتَّبِعُوٓا۟ أَحْسَنَ مَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ بَغْتَةًۭ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَشْعُرُونَ ﴿٥٥﴾

و از بهترین دستورهائی که از سوی پروردگارتان بر شما نازل شده پیروی کنید پیش از آنکه عذاب (الهی) ناگهان به سراغ شما آید در حالی که از آن خبر ندارید!»

And ere that suffering comes upon you of a sudden, without your being aware [of its approach], follow the most goodly [teaching] that has been revealed unto you by your Sustainer,

أَن تَقُولَ نَفْسٌۭ يَٰحَسْرَتَىٰ عَلَىٰ مَا فَرَّطتُ فِى جَنۢبِ ٱللَّهِ وَإِن كُنتُ لَمِنَ ٱلسَّٰخِرِينَ ﴿٥٦﴾

(این دستورها برای آن است که) مبادا کسی روز قیامت بگوید: «افسوس بر من از کوتاهیهایی که در اطاعت فرمان خدا کردم و از مسخره‌کنندگان (آیات او) بودم!»

lest any human being should say [on Judgment Day], “Alas for me for having been remiss in what is due to God, and for having been indeed one of those who scoffed [at the truth]!”

أَوْ تَقُولَ لَوْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هَدَىٰنِى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ ﴿٥٧﴾

یا بگوید: «اگر خداوند مرا هدایت می‌کرد، از پرهیزگاران بودم!»

or lest he should say, “If God had but guided me, I would surely have been among those who are conscious of Him!”-

أَوْ تَقُولَ حِينَ تَرَى ٱلْعَذَابَ لَوْ أَنَّ لِى كَرَّةًۭ فَأَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ﴿٥٨﴾

یا هنگامی که عذاب را می‌بیند بگوید: «ای کاش بار دیگر (به دنیا) بازمی‌گشتم و از نیکوکاران بودم!»

or lest he should say, when he becomes aware of the suffering [that awaits him], “Would that I had a second chance [in life], so that I could be among the doers of good!”

بَلَىٰ قَدْ جَآءَتْكَ ءَايَٰتِى فَكَذَّبْتَ بِهَا وَٱسْتَكْبَرْتَ وَكُنتَ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ ﴿٥٩﴾

آری، آیات من به سراغ تو آمد، امّا آن را تکذیب کردی و تکبّر نمودی و از کافران بودی!

[But God will reply:] “Yea, indeed! My mes­sages did come unto thee; but thou gavest them the lie, and wert filled with false pride, and wert among those who deny the truth!”

وَيَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ تَرَى ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَبُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ وُجُوهُهُم مُّسْوَدَّةٌ ۚ أَلَيْسَ فِى جَهَنَّمَ مَثْوًۭى لِّلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ ﴿٦٠﴾

و روز قیامت کسانی را که بر خدا دروغ بستند می‌بینی که صورتهایشان سیاه است؛ آیا در جهنّم جایگاهی برای متکبّران نیست؟!

And [so,] on the Day of Resurrection thou wilt see all who invented lies about God [with] their faces darkened [by grief and ignominy]. Is not hell the [proper] abode for all who are given to false pride?

وَيُنَجِّى ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ بِمَفَازَتِهِمْ لَا يَمَسُّهُمُ ٱلسُّوٓءُ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ ﴿٦١﴾

و خداوند کسانی را که تقوا پیشه کردند با رستگاری رهایی می‌بخشد؛ هیچ بدی به آنان نمی‌رسد و هرگز غمگین نخواهند شد.

But God will safeguard all who were conscious of Him, [and will grant them happiness] by virtue of their [inner] triumphs; no evil shall ever touch them, and neither shall they grieve.

ٱللَّهُ خَٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ ۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ وَكِيلٌۭ ﴿٦٢﴾

خداوند آفریدگار همه چیز است و حافظ و ناظر بر همه اشیا است.

GOD is the Creator of all things, and He alone has the power to determine the fate of all things.

لَّهُۥ مَقَالِيدُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ ﴿٦٣﴾

کلیدهای آسمانها و زمین از آن اوست؛ و کسانی که به آیات خداوند کافر شدند زیانکارانند.

His are the keys [to the mysteries] of the heavens and the earth: and they who are bent on denying the truth of God’s messages - it is they, they, who are the losers!

قُلْ أَفَغَيْرَ ٱللَّهِ تَأْمُرُوٓنِّىٓ أَعْبُدُ أَيُّهَا ٱلْجَٰهِلُونَ ﴿٦٤﴾

بگو: «آیا به من دستور می‌دهید که غیر خدا را بپرستم ای جاهلان؟!»

Say: “Is it, then, something other than God that you bid me to worship, O you who are unaware [of right and wrong]?”

وَلَقَدْ أُوحِىَ إِلَيْكَ وَإِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكَ لَئِنْ أَشْرَكْتَ لَيَحْبَطَنَّ عَمَلُكَ وَلَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ ﴿٦٥﴾

به تو و همه پیامبران پیشین وحی شده که اگر مشرک شوی، تمام اعمالت تباه می‌شود و از زیانکاران خواهی بود!

And yet, it has already been revealed to thee [O man,] as well as to those who lived before thee, that if thou ever ascribe divine powers to aught but God, all thy works shall most certainly have been in vain: for [in the life to come] thou shalt most certainly be among the lost.

بَلِ ٱللَّهَ فَٱعْبُدْ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ ﴿٦٦﴾

بلکه تنها خداوند را عبادت کن و از شکرگزاران باش!

Nay, but thou shalt worship God [alone], and be among those who are grateful [to Him]!

وَمَا قَدَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِۦ وَٱلْأَرْضُ جَمِيعًۭا قَبْضَتُهُۥ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وَٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ مَطْوِيَّٰتٌۢ بِيَمِينِهِۦ ۚ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ ﴿٦٧﴾

آنها خدا را آن گونه که شایسته است نشناختند، در حالی که تمام زمین در روز قیامت در قبضه اوست و آسمانها پیچیده در دست او؛ خداوند منزّه و بلندمقام است از شریکیهایی که برای او می‌پندارند

And no true understanding of God have they [who worship aught beside Him], inasmuch as the whole of the earth will be as a [mere] handful to Him on Resurrection Day, and the heavens will be rolled up in His right hand: limitless is He in His glory, and sublimely exalted above anything to which they may ascribe a share in His divinity!

وَنُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَصَعِقَ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ إِلَّا مَن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۖ ثُمَّ نُفِخَ فِيهِ أُخْرَىٰ فَإِذَا هُمْ قِيَامٌۭ يَنظُرُونَ ﴿٦٨﴾

و در «صور» دمیده می‌شود، پس همه کسانی که در آسمانها و زمینند می‌میرند، مگر کسانی که خدا بخواهد؛ سپس بار دیگر در «صور» دمیده می‌شود، ناگهان همگی به پا می‌خیزند و در انتظار (حساب و جزا) هستند.

And [on that Day,] the trumpet [of judgment] will be sounded, and all [creatures] that are in the heavens and all that are on earth will fall down senseless, unless they be such as God wills [to exempt]. And then it will sound again - and lo! standing [before the Seat of Judgment], they will begin to see [the truth]!

وَأَشْرَقَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ بِنُورِ رَبِّهَا وَوُضِعَ ٱلْكِتَٰبُ وَجِا۟ىٓءَ بِٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ وَٱلشُّهَدَآءِ وَقُضِىَ بَيْنَهُم بِٱلْحَقِّ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ ﴿٦٩﴾

و زمین (در آن روز) به نور پروردگارش روشن می‌شود، و نامه‌های اعمال را پیش می‌نهند و پیامبران و گواهان را حاضر می‌سازند، و میان آنها بحق داوری می‌شود و به آنان ستم نخواهد شد!

And the earth will shine bright with her Sus­tainer’s light. And the record [of everyone’s deeds] will be laid bare, and all the prophets will be brought forward, and all [other] witnesses; and judgment will be passed on them all in justice. And they will not be wronged,

وَوُفِّيَتْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢ مَّا عَمِلَتْ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَفْعَلُونَ ﴿٧٠﴾

و به هر کس آنچه انجام داده است بی‌کم و کاست داده می‌شود؛ و او نسبت به آنچه انجام می‌دادند از همه آگاهتر است.

for every human being will be repaid in full for whatever [good or evil] he has done: and He is fully aware of all that they do.

وَسِيقَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ زُمَرًا ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءُوهَا فُتِحَتْ أَبْوَٰبُهَا وَقَالَ لَهُمْ خَزَنَتُهَآ أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ رُسُلٌۭ مِّنكُمْ يَتْلُونَ عَلَيْكُمْ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّكُمْ وَيُنذِرُونَكُمْ لِقَآءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَٰذَا ۚ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ وَلَٰكِنْ حَقَّتْ كَلِمَةُ ٱلْعَذَابِ عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ ﴿٧١﴾

و کسانی که کافر شدند گروه گروه به سوی جهنّم رانده می‌شوند؛ وقتی به دوزخ می‌رسند، درهای آن گشوده می‌شود و نگهبانان دوزخ به آنها می‌گویند: «آیا رسولانی از میان شما به سویتان نیامدند که آیات پروردگارتان را برای شما بخوانند و از ملاقات این روز شما را بر حذر دارند؟!» می‌گویند: «آری، (پیامبران آمدند و آیات الهی را بر ما خواندند، و ما مخالفت کردیم!) ولی فرمان عذاب الهی بر کافران مسلّم شده است.

And those who were bent on denying the truth will be urged on in throngs towards hell till, when they reach it, its gates will be opened, and its keepers will ask them, “Have there not come to you apostles from among yourselves, who conveyed to you your Sustainer’s messages and warned you of the coming of this your Day [of Judgment]?” They will answer: “Yea, indeed!” But the sentence of suffering will [already] have fallen due upon the deniers of the truth;

قِيلَ ٱدْخُلُوٓا۟ أَبْوَٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۖ فَبِئْسَ مَثْوَى ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ ﴿٧٢﴾

به آنان گفته می‌شود: «از درهای جهنّم وارد شوید، جاودانه در آن بمانید؛ چه بد جایگاهی است جایگاه متکبّران!»

[and] they will be told, “Enter the gates of hell, therein to abide!” And how vile an abode for those who were given to false pride!

وَسِيقَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ رَبَّهُمْ إِلَى ٱلْجَنَّةِ زُمَرًا ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءُوهَا وَفُتِحَتْ أَبْوَٰبُهَا وَقَالَ لَهُمْ خَزَنَتُهَا سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ طِبْتُمْ فَٱدْخُلُوهَا خَٰلِدِينَ ﴿٧٣﴾

و کسانی که تقوای الهی پیشه کردند گروه گروه به سوی بهشت برده می‌شوند؛ هنگامی که به آن می‌رسند درهای بهشت گشوده می‌شود و نگهبانان به آنان می‌گویند: «سلام بر شما! گوارایتان باد این نعمتها! داخل بهشت شوید و جاودانه بمانید!»

But those who were conscious of their Sus­tainer will be urged on in throngs towards paradise till, when they reach it, they shall find its gates wide- open; and its keepers will say unto them, “Peace be upon you! Well have you done: enter, then, this [paradise], herein to abide!”

وَقَالُوا۟ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى صَدَقَنَا وَعْدَهُۥ وَأَوْرَثَنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ نَتَبَوَّأُ مِنَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ حَيْثُ نَشَآءُ ۖ فَنِعْمَ أَجْرُ ٱلْعَٰمِلِينَ ﴿٧٤﴾

آنها می‌گویند: «حمد و ستایش مخصوص خداوندی است که به وعده خویش درباره ما وفا کرد و زمین (بهشت) را میراث ما قرار داد که هر جا را بخواهیم منزلگاه خود قرار دهیم؛ چه نیکوست پاداش عمل کنندگان!»

And they will exclaim: “All praise is due to God, who has made His promise to us come true, and has bestowed upon us this expanse [of bliss] as our portion, so that we may dwell in paradise as we please!” And how excellent a reward will it be for those who laboured [in God’s way]!

وَتَرَى ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ حَآفِّينَ مِنْ حَوْلِ ٱلْعَرْشِ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ ۖ وَقُضِىَ بَيْنَهُم بِٱلْحَقِّ وَقِيلَ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ﴿٧٥﴾

(در آن روز) فرشتگان را می‌بینی که بر گرد عرش خدا حلقه زده‌اند و با ستایش پروردگارشان تسبیح می‌گویند؛ و در میان بندگان بحق داوری می‌شود؛ و (سرانجام) گفته خواهد شد: «حمد مخصوص خدا پروردگار جهانیان است!»

And thou wilt see the angels surrounding the throne of [God’s] almightiness, extolling their Sus­tainer’s glory and praise. And judgment will have been passed in justice on all [who had lived and died], and the word will be spoken: “All praise is due to God, the Sustainer of all the worlds!”
